Lakewood, NJ, March 24, 2025 – Lakewood Police Department will participate in First Responder
Wellness Week, taking time to highlight personnel health and wellbeing and agency wellness programs.

First Responder Wellness Week, taking place March 24-28, 2025, is an annual event that aims to build
awareness of the wellness challenges facing public safety professionals, educate first responders on how
to effectively care for their physical and mental wellbeing, and equip agencies to provide holistic support.
This year’s theme, “Fit for Duty, Fit for Life,” focuses on helping first responders build strength in every
area of wellness. Sponsored by Lexipol, the leading provider of solutions that enhance performance and
safety excellence for public safety professionals, the event features a different focus for each day of the
week: physical fitness, mental and emotional health, peer support, wellness leadership and community
connection.

“Investing in the health of our department ensures that they are better equipped to serve and
protect the community effectively. This includes access to mental health resources, wellness programs,
and family support initiatives. By supporting our department in these areas, we strengthen the bond
between law enforcement and the community, ensuring a safer, healthier Lakewood for everyone.
Together, we can create an environment where our department thrives, ultimately leading to enhanced
public safety and a more harmonious community.” – Chief Gregory H. Meyer

Lakewood Police Department will mark First Responder Wellness Week by sharing about critical
resources, including roll call videos on each daily wellness theme, and hosting events focused on physical
fitness, nutrition and family wellness. In addition, Lakewood Police Department supports personnel
health and wellbeing throughout the year with its wellness program.

“The goal of First Responder Wellness Week is to emphasize that readiness goes beyond just showing
up—it’s about being physically strong, mentally resilient, and emotionally balanced to meet the demands
of serving others,” says Dr. David Black, Lexipol’s president of wellness solutions. “At Lexipol, we’re
proud to see agencies like Lakewood Police Department taking proactive steps to empower their
personnel with practical wellness strategies, helping them thrive both on and off duty.”
