The Lakewood Police Department’s Bureau of Information Technology Unit plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and security of all technological resources across the department. Responsibilities of the Bureau:
- Computers and Networks: Overseeing all department computers, servers, and network infrastructure to ensure connectivity and efficiency.
- Communications Systems: Managing radios, telephones, and other communication devices to ensure reliable contact between officers and dispatch.
- Security Compliance: Ensuring compliance with CJIS and FBI security standards, protecting sensitive data and communications.
- Internet and Firewalls: Managing internet access, firewalls, and cybersecurity protocols to safeguard our systems against threats.
- Printers and Office Equipment: Maintaining and supporting department printers, scanners, and other essential office devices.
- Building Technology: Administering security cameras, access control systems, and other building technology to ensure the safety and security of our facilities.
- Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Systems: Supporting and optimizing the CAD systems that are vital for effective dispatch and resource allocation.
