Firearms Unit

The Lakewood Police Firearms Unit is dedicated to assisting residents with all matters related to firearms permits and applications. This includes the processing of permits to purchase handguns, firearms identification cards, and Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits.

The Firearms Unit is Comprised of:

One Detective that oversees the application process, ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and conducts necessary background checks.

One Civilian Employee that provides administrative support, processes applications, and assists residents with inquiries.

Services We Provide:

• Processing applications for Firearms Purchaser Identification Cards
• Issuing Permits to Purchase Handguns
• Handling applications for Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) Permits
• Conducting background checks as required by law
• Providing information and guidance on New Jersey firearms laws and regulations
