Online Reporting – COMING SOON

Welcome to the Lakewood Police Department’s Online Reporting System. This platform offers an efficient and straightforward way for residents to report minor incidents to the department. Simply complete the necessary forms on your computer or mobile device, ensure all information is correct, and submit for review.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE COMPLETING AN ONLINE POLICE REPORT.

If the incident you are reporting is an emergency, involves a crime in progress, or needs immediate police attention, please do not use this system. Instead, call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies that don’t qualify for online reporting, contact us at 732-363-0200.

To use the Online Reporting System, the following conditions must apply:

  • It’s NOT an emergency or ongoing crime
  • It doesn’t need an immediate police response
  • The incident happened within Lakewood Township
  • You’re 18 years or older
  • It’s NOT a domestic violence case
  • No weapon was involved
  • Property loss isn’t significant
  • No firearms, prescription medications, or narcotics are missing or stolen
  • There’s NO physical evidence to be collected (such as video footage)
  • It’s NOT a violent crime, hate crime, sex crime, or bias incident
  • It’s NOT a stolen vehicle or license plate
  • No serious injuries or traffic accidents are involved

The Lakewood Police Department accepts online reports for the following types of incidents:

Incident Type Description
Minor Thefts (Under $1,000) Property suspected to be stolen or taken without permission by another individual (e.g., package thefts, bicycle thefts) where no suspect is known.
Credit Card Theft Taking another person’s credit card or using their credit card to make purchases that they are not authorized to do.
Identity Theft/Fraud Obtaining someone’s personal identifying information and using it to obtain credit, goods, or services.
Civil Disputes Verbal disputes involving customers and employees, neighbors, and landlord/tenants. Documentation only, where there is no ongoing violence or threat of.
Harassing Phone Calls or Messages Alarming conduct or repeated acts with the purpose of causing alarm or seriously annoying another person. Non-Threatening.
Lost Property Property that is missing or lost and is not suspected of having been taken by someone. Except firearms, weapons, prescription medication, or narcotics.
Property Damage Accidental or unintentional damage to private property.
Shoplifting under $1,000 Taking goods from an establishment that are displayed for sale without paying for them. Suspect is unknown and no vehicle information is available.
Vandalism/Graffiti (Non Bias) The act of intentionally changing, modifying, or defacing public or private property.

After submitting your Online Incident Report:

  1. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging that your report has been received.
  2. Your report will be reviewed, and you will only be contacted if further information is required or if there are issues with your submission. If your report is not eligible for Online Incident Reporting, it will be rejected.
  3. Based on the details and severity of the incident, your report may be assigned to an officer or detective for follow-up. Most cases are closed without additional action, but if follow-up is necessary, you may be contacted within 3-5 business days.
  4. Once your report is approved, you’ll receive notification along with the assigned case number. An official copy of the report will be available at the Lakewood Police Records Bureau during normal business hours.

Please note: Filing a false police report is illegal. Providing false information about a crime or incident to any law enforcement officer is a fourth-degree crime under New Jersey law (2C:28-4), punishable by up to 18 months in prison, a fine of up to $1,000, or both.
