As you know, the world is unfortunately in the middle of an outbreak. We urge all residents to remain calm and alert but please do not panic. We will get through this together and we will be stronger for it. We here at Lakewood Township Public Works are taking every precaution to keep the public and the township employees safe and keep risks to an absolute minimum. While we want to help and assist you with the spring cleaning, we will be making some changes. Our goal is to keep everyone as safe and healthy as we can going into the holiday.
Unfortunately, due to the rapid rate this Corona virus spreads we will be cancelling the satellite sites. In previous years Public Works has set up 7 satellite sites that ran for 48 hours straight prior, but for the safety of everyone involved because of the risk of contamination and the high infection rate, the Lakewood Township Public Works has made this difficult decision.
So, what is the Township going to do? Starting March 30th, Lakewood Public Works will start picking up bulk garbage. The Lakewood Township Public Works employees will be making rounds of all 4 zones, starting with zone 1. Please do not put any bulk trash in the cans.
If you have more bulk garbage to dispose of, please bring it to the Resident Drop off (also known as the Hill) located at 1 America Avenue. Starting March 23rd, The Resident Drop Off will have extended hours through the week from 7:30 am until 11pm. These hours are for Monday thru Friday only. Saturday and Sunday hours will be its regular scheduled time.
Starting Monday April 6th, the resident drop off will be open from 7:30am and will stay open until Wednesday April 8th 12pm. During this time, Public works will also be making continuous rounds of all the zones with its trucks to pick up the Household trash and recycling. Please keep all bulk out of the cans. If your can does not get picked up before 12, please do not worry, leave your can(s) by the curb and the garbage will be picked up and disposed of.
Here is a list of what you can bring to the resident drop off: Household Trash, Recycling, Pallets, tires and rims separated. Couches, chairs, sofas, doors, tables, all household furniture All household electronics and E-Waste. All metal, refrigerators, grills, and other household appliances. We have special containers for clothes and shredded paper.
Prohibited items that the Resident drop off cannot accept are: Paint, household chemicals, commercial construction and/or demolition material, large amounts of wood, cabinets, drywall, sheetrock, plaster and concrete.
All materials brought to and/or picked up by Lakewood Township Public Works can be denied at the discretion of its management. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US HELP YOU!
