Sergeant Robert M Humeny was diagnosed with Diffuse Systemic Scleroderma which is an extremely rare autoimmune disease that affects the connective tissue in the body and can also affect internal organs. There is no known cure for the disease at this time. He has been a police officer for over 22 years.

 

Sergeant Humeny was hired by the Lakewood police department in January 1998. He began his career as a Patrolman on foot and then the Community Policing unit in the Martin Luther King area on bike patrol. From there he worked in motorized patrol until being promoted to Detective in 2001. He worked in the detective bureau from 2001 -2012 where he had been assigned to the Street Crimes Unit, then as a day shift case detective and then assigned to FBI gang task force for 3 years. He was promoted to Sergeant in March 2012 where he had various supervisory assignments including Patrol Division, Street Crimes Unit detectives and then day shift case detectives until July 2016. He was then assigned to supervise Motorized Patrol until December 2018. January 2019 to current he is assigned to supervise all fleet operations, vehicle and equipment purchasing and maintenance/ repair of same.
