On Thursday December 22, 2022, Officer Rodney Youmans #250 retires after a 30 year career in Law Enforcement, today December 22nd, 2022, he will hang up his boots and say good bye to his brothers and sisters at the Lakewood Police Department.
Rodney began his career as a Lakewood Emergency Services Auxiliary Police in 1991 – 1995, then Belmar Police Department of May 1993 Class 1 SLEO to May 1994, from there to a Class 2 SLEO until January 1998 Class #19 at the Monmouth Police Academy, on January 20 1998, graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy along with fellow Officers (249, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254,255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 262) from OCPA Class 70.
During the interim as a Police Officer, Rodney was involved in the Lakewood Fire Department from April 4th, 1988 – November 4th, 2022, and throughout 2010 – 2012, he was the Chief of Volunteer Department. He also earned a degree in Sociology from Georgian Court University May 2003.
Rodney will certainly be missed at the Police Department for his witted charm, sense of humor and pleasant smile. His humor is like no other, for he could turn any situation into a clean comedic skit, that embeds to memory for years thereafter.
