Governor Phil Murphy today ordered that U.S. and New Jersey flags remain at half-staff at all state buildings and facilities on Friday, February 11, 2022 to honor U.S. Navy Seaman Kyle Mullen. Seaman Mullen was a resident of Manalapan Township, New Jersey and passed away last week after Navy SEAL training exercises in San Diego, California.

Kyle Mullen was a former captain of the Yale Bulldogs football team who enlisted in the U.S. Navy after college, and died at age 24 on February 4, 2022, following the “Hell Week” portion of Navy SEAL training.

‘Seaman Mullen was a beloved son,
friend, teammate, and servicemember
whose presence will be sorely missed by
everyone who knew him, and by the
people of New Jersey” said Governor
Murphy. “He represented the very best of our state and country. Our thoughts and prayers are with Seaman Mullen’s family during this painful time.”
