What is this workshop? This 3-hour workshop is intended to provide the safety, security, and emergency planners of houses of worship throughout the Region with an overview of the FEMA Guide to Developing High Quality Emergency Operations Plans for Houses of Worship; and through collaboration with other houses of worship, share lessons learned and ideas while walking through the development or improvement of emergency operations plans.
What is a “House of Worship”? Public or private facilities used for religiously-sponsored activities. This includes commercial properties used as houses of worship. Examples include churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, religiously operated schools, and related religious gathering and retreat facilities.
Who should attend? Any member of a safety, security, or emergency planning committee for an established house of worship, regardless of religious denomination; this could include religious leaders, teachers, administrators, security guards, ushers, greeters, or other volunteers who are on committees, or looking to establish a committee in a facility.
