On Tuesday January 31st, 2023 Detective Sergeant Robert Humeny #256 retires after a 25 year career in Law Enforcement and will be one of four retiring in a “walk-out” ceremony.

Robert graduated the Ocean County Police Academy on January 20 1998, along with fellow Officers (249, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254,255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 261, 262) from OCPA Class 70.

While in patrol, Rob was a diligent proactive officer, and was placed in the Detective Bureau on a temporary duty assignment. In the bureau, he proved to be an energetic, resourceful, motivated investigator and earned a detective status on May 4 2006.

In 2007, Rob was chosen to work with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force for a period of approximately 2 years, and was promoted to Sergeant on May 24, 2012. Then promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2016 where he was assigned to supervise the Street Crimes Unit and later assigned to supervisor day time Detectives. During his career Rob received a Meritorious Service Award on September 01, 2006 and the Gallantry Star on May 19th 2018. 

Rob will be missed at the Police Department for his optimism, sense of humor, witted mind and friendly smile. Till his last day, he showed his commitment to the department by completing and submitting an annual report needed to maintain the LPD Accredited status.
