All Uniformed Lakewood Police Officers are mandated by Attorney General to wear Body Worn Cameras.

The Body Worn Camera will also be assigned to tactical teams, proactive enforcement teams, canine units, or duties that include regular interaction with the public will generally be required to be equipped with BWC’s.

Public trust and the transparency of law enforcement activities will be strengthened by recording a wider range of police-citizen encounters.

It is the policy of the Lakewood Police Department to utilize body worn cameras (BWC) and mobile video recorders (MVRs) to assist agency personnel in the performance of their duties by providing an accurate and unbiased recorded account of an incident.
